Rifugio Lavaredo
Al Rifugio Lavaredo you can get going in the car on the scenic route from Misurina to Rifugio Auronzo, from here in 20 min. Follow the easy path n ° 101 completely flat to get to the refuge Lavaredo.
Can also be reached by climbing Val Marzon, which is at the end of the village of Auronzo path n ° 104, in about three hours, in a picturesque setting. For those coming from the Val Pusteria, after the town of Sesto take the Fischleinvalley, which leads first to the Rifugio Locatelli, then crossing the Lavaredo, where you can admire some of the most beautiful Dolomites as the Cima Grande m. 2999, the West m. 2973 and the Small Lavaredo m. 2856, Mount Paterno m. 2746, the Group of Cadini m. 2837 and Croda dei Toni m. 3,094
HISTORY
The refuge Lavaredo was built in 1954 by mountain guide Francis Court Colò “Mazzetta” pioneer of relief on the wall in the Three Peaks since the early ’50s, and one of the founders of the mountain rescue Auronzo. Thanks to its favorable position is an excellent approach for the majority of ascents to the Peaks since the mid nineteenth attract climbers from all over the world for their spectacular and magnificent walls.
It offers great views and the chance to visit through easy paths, railways and roads used during the First World War the other shelters in the area.
It is also the location for helicopter rescue and relief operations.
E ‘reachable with a 20 minute walk from the car park on arrival of the scenic road that starts from Misurina.
From the saddle Lavaredo to the north and west you reach the villages of Val Pusteria as Sesto, San Candido, Dobbiaco. To the south and east you go down to the valleys of Auronzo and Misurina, renowned for the homonymous lake.
