Calalzo di Cadore natural area spa archaeological Lagole

The archaeological site of Lagole , is certainly the most interesting of the high Belluno and is rightly called ‘ The source of the civilization of Cadore ‘ .
All the archaeological finds at the thermal pools and adjacent wooded escarpments , now semi – submerged by the artificial lake of Centro Cadore , were collected in the Museum of Rules in Pieve di Cadore.

It was one of the most important sacred sites of the paleo- Venetian civilization linked to the gods of fertility for the evocative and magical springs .
Waters rich in sulphurous substances , also used by the Romans and in the Middle Ages to the healing properties of the skin and to heal the wounds .
Currently the area has reduced contours , closed between the railroad track and the artificial .
It ‘ destination for pleasant walks in the charming woods between streams , springs and small lakes such as the ‘ Lake of Tose ‘ ( = tose girls).

From the train station Calalzo continue (on the left ) and follow the signs down ‘ Chalet al Lago ‘ a mile of paved road.
